The way Anderson directs Grand Budhapest Hotel is obviously very much inspired by older films, somewhere between the speed and clever, energetic set pieces of Buster Keaton, the rapid-fire comedy of the Marx Brothers, and some of Hitchcock's pre-war thrillers.
